Private Client Paralegal - Denver

Taft is seeking an Estate Administration Paralegal to support the Private Client practice group in our Denver office.

We are seeking a paralegal with 3-5 years’ experience to join the Private Client team in Denver. An ideal candidate must have superior writing skills, attention to detail, the ability to understand and draft complex concepts into a legal instrument, the ability to communicate and coordinate with clients and other members of a client’s team, and first-rate organization skills.  All Taft employees operate under a “Client First” philosophy—in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our clients. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the transfer and distribution of trust and probate estates.
  • Interact with clients in person, on the phone, and via email and video conferencing.
  • Draft, edit, and review estate planning documents (wills, trusts, powers of attorney), probate documents (basic court pleadings), basic corporate documents (documents to form LLCs), and administration related documents (asset transfer forms, trustee minutes, and other general miscellaneous forms related to the forgoing).
  • Understand and draft complex concepts into a legal instrument with superior writing skills.
  • Be responsible for document preparation, production, and presentation with strong attention to formatting, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Manage and maintain document organization and client files, both hard copy and electronic.
  • Exercise independent decision-making as well as making appropriate recommendations to the supervising attorney.
  • Monitor, prioritize, organize, and facilitate daily workflow and client management in order to meet project deadlines. 
  • Perform data entry, when necessary, for managing client matters and maintaining documents in the firm’s document management system (DMS system).
  • Provide a high level of general administrative functions as required. 
  • Maintain and submit time entries for the purpose of billing clients in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with other legal and support departments/personnel and clients as determined by attorneys.

 

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.
  • Paralegal certificate or degree preferred
  • 3-5 years paralegal experience with related legal work
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong initiative and problem-solving ability
  • Commitment to facilitating efficient processes and procedures
  • Strong writing skills with an emphasis on clarity and accuracy (spelling, punctuation, grammar)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with the ability to establish good rapport with attorneys, clients, and other employees.
  • Ability to learn law office practices and procedures. 
  • Skilled in the use of software systems such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and the ability to learn the firm’s DMS system and other specialized software, such as Jigsaw (our software for creating planning “schematics”). 
  • Ability to organize, prepare, and maintain detailed records, reports, checklists, and other records.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to carry out assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to quickly learn company policies and procedures and learn office methods and procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.

The salary range for this position is $35.43/hour – $48.07/hour. Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted information based on work experience, education, and/or skill level.
