Proposal Manager - Washington, DC

Taft is currently seeking a Proposal Manager to join our team.

We are seeking a Proposal Manager to support our Marketing team. All Taft employees operate under a “Client First” philosophy—in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our clients. This is an entry-level position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads RFP responses, drafting new content as well as compiling and editing content prepared by others to ensure that materials are high-quality, strategic, reflective of best practices in the marketplace, and appropriately differentiated from those of the firm's competitors.
  • Manages the collaborative process of strategizing on new business opportunities with partners, including go-no-go discussions, and imparting strategic direction to business development colleagues.
  • Manages the review and completion of required forms and documents by coordinating with the relevant firm departments.
  • Organizes proposal teams and oversees the proposal development process, ensuring that requirements are fully met.
  • Provides overall quality control for all proposal materials, including writing, editing and applying the firm’s style guide and brand standards to proposal documents.
  • Produces final submission documents and ensures the submission meets all RFP requirements and is submitted by the required deadline.
  • Contributes to the reporting of proposal activity and performance.
  • Contributes to the periodic refresh of firm content to include new writing and revisions, as needed.
  • Contributes to the firm's key Marketing & Business Development initiatives and programs as assigned, which may include supporting industry group, client team, and practice group initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet firm goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience in professional services in a marketing and/or business development role that involved proposal writing.
  • Legal marketing background, strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Foundation (used for proposal generation and experience management), a plus.
  • Experience with online RFP portals, a plus.
  • Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative.
  • Extremely professional. Positive, helpful attitude. 
  • Superior organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with shifting priorities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and communicate status.
  • Proficient at managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Taft offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefit package, including medical, dental, vision, life, long term disability, flexible spending, 401K, Paid Time Off, paid holidays, bonus and more. The salary range for this position is $120,000/yr. – $130,000/yr. Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted information based on work experience, education, and/or skill level.
